Would like to get May, but not sure we have enough to offer him that FAU wouldn't match - money, better facilities?  It sure isn't a better conference at this point.

better facilities? yes

Gregory had a 76-86 record at Georgia Tech before he came to USF. Also didn't he get fired? Gregory did well earlier in his career, but was at best average at Georgia Tech.

Overall record ... You can't just ignore what he did at Dayton.

Didn't really ignore  it. I included in my post that he did well earlier in his career. But the point that at one point he was a very good mid major coach ( similar to May and Richey) is  a valid one. Still  I would rather have a coach with recent success over success a long time ago.

It’s what he did at Dayton that he couldn’t do at Ga Tech (and, subsequently South Florida).

We hired a failed coach and gave him the keys.

Too bad Gregory couldn't reproduce the success he had with Dayton at USF

you forgot the extension part. Extending a failing coach never works out no matter what illogical approach AD MK tried to sell. It was 0-2 for the two biggest sports in college sports. Lets hope his hires are 2 for 2 and not the dollar menu from the mcdonalds.

We hired a coach whose previous year as a head coach was a 21 win season, in the ACC, and made the NIT quarterfinals ..... that'd be a top 5 year here.
