Does anyone actually think USF has better average attendance than say nationally prominent Cincinnati who had 22k season ticket holders (as of 2021). According to this list we do (#67 vs #64).

As Wooly pointed out, the answer is yes because that's the metric being used by everyone for "average attendance" and that list says we had better. If you want to start talking about actual attendance, something few if any schools ever publish, the answer is probably no ..... but it's a moot point because the attendance figures that matter are the ones on that list.

The answer is yes only in a world where “attendance” is redefined as tickets dispersed, not a count of those actually attending a game. In that world, the teams that play in the biggest stadiums can always claim to have the most attendance because they have the ability to give away the most tickets regardless of how many fans actually attend.

And that world is college athletics ..... not sure how much clearer this point can be made.

No one is using that metric to make any decisions because it’s not a serious stat. That’s the point.

U of Cincinnati: season ticket holders = ~22k (2021); 2022 “attendance” = 28.4k

USF: season ticket holders = ~15k (2019); 2022 “attendance” = 29.6k

If it were, we’d be building more than a 35k seat stadium.

This shows a 5 yr avg. Better than Houston or Cincy. I wonder what our average was during the BE days

I think we have about 10k die hard fans that will show up no matter what. I don't think winning is necessarily going to change attendance in this league. The die hards will be excited, but try to get your neighbor excited about a usf v. Rice match-up. Woof.

Win some games and let’s see. It’s amazing anyone shows up these days. The fact that they are bodes well.

Amazing we had that amount of tickets sold compared the wins and product on the field over the last 4 seasons.

Shouldn't be any harder than trying to get them excited about a USF v. Tulsa/Tulane/SMU/ECU/Memphis/Temple match in years past. It's a problem, relatively speaking when comparing to the BE days, we've had for a decade.

Was a big jump in attendance in 2023, expecting another jump in 2024.

Hopefully we get season tix high enough that we look at expanding OCS as early as 2027 :0

"USF also saw a 28 percent increase in home attendance (37,944 average is the best since 2018 and second-best since joining the AAC), led the AAC in home attendance, posted its first home winning record (4-2) since 2018, won its first bowl game since 2017 and won its first road game in three years."
