Right or wrong, logic beats emotion.

Oh no it does not! We've built entire industries on emotion...everything from Talk Radio to I'net message boards. We like to pretend that we're rational animals and always slaved to the grey matter, but it's that thump-thump-thump organ in our collective chest that is the real shot caller. How hard do you think it is to extract folding green for [insert athletic department wish list here] using logic (how would we quantify that? what sort of ROI? I don’t know.) as opposed to tapping some sort of emotional connection. Marketing. Advertising budgets. Research. It's all about how to manipulate your emotional connection to variable X, 'cause we know that relying on our logic/reason does not move the needle. Logic will not fill a stadium with season ticket holders. Logic will not pry open wallets. Logic will not express dismay after a loss to a vastly superior team. Perhaps you remember the old Sam Kinison ‘In Love Nine Times’ routine? Yeah, that’s us. And it will be us for the foreseeable future.

When we hired Strong... we could have had Lane and/or Leach (everyone's favorite Pirate) - if I recall correctly.

Instead of dumping money into a stadium we should shut down the football program and focus on other things. It's a failure from top to bottom and the sunk costs that got us here aren't worth chasing anymore.

So you think a good head coach at Vanderbilt or Arizona State or Purdue will leave their conference to go to Coastal Carolina or Fresno State or USF?

They go where the money is don’t they?

And we can pay more with out $8 million per year TV deal than the 30-40-60 million these other conferences pay?  Are you daft? 😉

Can’t blame them for that. But now that the 12 team playoff format is on the horizon things may change….Jim Mora Playoffs GIF

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
