I would think so as well.  Hopefully we can get one more pass rush DE to shore up the whole D line.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see us use a 4-4-3 occasionally.

Especially if we are going to the Big10. Haha j/k.  I would love to see some exotic looks as long as we are not playing 5 yards back.

Maaaaaaaan. You know why I felt we had a chance? The USC fans sh*****ted on that man. They made it seem as if he wasnt that good. (I can tell they were hating lol) So I thought, maybe he wasnt going to get any big offers and we could have landed him. Oh well, Im happy with who we have now and maybe one of the returning DEs step it up.

There are more de's with high upside in the portal if the coaching staff wanted to contact them

4-4-3 is a bit more outdated now that most offenses run 11 personnel as opposed to 21... 4-3-4 is more common, and what USF ran most of it's history.

I don't even know if you can be so strict with formations anymore. Like basketball has become more positionless, so has football especially on defense.  You will players that are both a LB and a Safety, and end and a LB, etc.  Allows the defense to change formations on the fly while on the field, rather than sub someone on.  New DC seems a lot more flexible then the last one.  I think we'll see a lot of mixing things up.

True... and with schemes like zone blitzing and cover zero... but most often defenses have some standard packages based on what the offense is doing... Playing nickel or dime against a 4- or 5- WR scheme... I doubt we'd ever really play a 4-4-3 scheme unless we're playing Navy... most offenses have shifted to passing  first... "RPO" should be "PRO" 😉
