Just figured the younger players would especially  benefit by extra tackling drills since they didn't get alot due to covid and injuries last few years.

Makes sense if my comment you quoted was about the defense.  It isn’t.  I agree the defense has to know how to tackle but it doesn’t apply to my comment or the players and coach in the tweet.

Serious question are they going to specifically  do more tackling drills this year because during  the covid years there were no tackling drills?

Segway-ing. I've heard the strength and conditioning coach is one of the more important positions to a teams success.

Last year we switched S&C coaches in the middle of spring practice. Wonder if that hurt the team, and this year the players will benefit more from being in one strength program the entire offseason with a guy who has experience with them.

We have been ravaged by injuries over the last two years especially on defense and the defensive backs. This is why I am wondering if it was bad luck, bad case of injury bug, lack of strength and prehab workouts due to covid or injuries, lack of tackling technique drills,or me over analyzing how hurt we have been? Something definitely was going on on defense and I hope the new DC is the answer. I can't blame this on Scott he was hired to run and build an elite offense. Whoever recommended the previous dc should have been let go mostly likely PapaScott. Let's just hope our new DC produces results closer to the last game of the season compared to the first 11.

Interesting. I was watching a golf video the other day. The coach asked the question, "How many of the top players use the same coach?" He went on to say that whoever you use ONLY use one. I would think that would hold true for a S&C coach.

Different guys have different philosophies and approaches to working out. The top programs always have the top strength and conditioning coaches. An odd thing I never see from USF is we never have hype videos of guys breaking huge PR lifts and a lot of the other big programs do that.

Somebody on another board said Bayron Matos looked "extremely raw" in the Spring game and not to expect much from this guy. Im writing this off a another "negative nancy" type of fan b/c its reported that he got a few sacks, blocked kicks and TFLs during scrimmages and the spring game. If Daquan Bowers wants to level up to an elite coach, this is his chance. Look at him sitting next to our 290Ib DT transfer from Minn? Bowers has 3-4 years with this 6'9  270Ib  project.Screenshot_20220720-101111_Instagram.jpg.961706c862ac02594f34f3dea98dfd5a.jpg.

Recruited to USF as a transfer to play basketball, Matos walked on to the football team during spring practice in 2022...he had never had football pads or a helmet on before.

And he looked extremely raw? In the spring game? Say it ain't so.

Friggin beast

I would make Matos a team captain so he can participate in the coin toss at the beginning of games. You are right in that he is a friggin beast. The intimidation factor is high with this one.
