Zags are talking to the Pac 12.

So now the PAC 12 is getting a potential big 12 target in SMU & now will lose out on Gonzaga. This reminds me of how things went for the big east lol

It's still fluid... the Pac 12 commish thought the TV contract would be north of $40mill per school... but that's not happening...  which means the Big 12 could look west.  The Pac 12 doesn't have a GOR yet... because that would be part of the TV contract.

And the best offer for the Pac 12 may be with Amazon - which means a lot more Pac 12 streaming games, like more than half of the games!

Would Oregon and Washington be happy getting about the same amount as UCF to have games on Prime Video when UCF is on ESPN or Fox networks ?  Or would they want to join the Big 12?

Texas and Oklahoma will be leaving Big12 at the end of 2023-24 season. That means that the Big12 will lose games for their new tv contract that starts in 2025-2026. With the PAC 12 eyeing SDSU and SMU. The best thing for USF would be the PAC going to 14 and maybe taking SDSU, SMU, Boise and UNLV and getting a contract close to Big12. Meaning if Big12 looks to expand to 14, USF will have a look. This is why getting OCS moving and winning this year is HUGE.

The optics would look terrible for any P4 a school to join the big 12. big east had the same issues in that they couldn’t lure any power conferences schools…

I don't think SMU was ever a serious target for the Big XII given that they've already got the DFW market with TCU and there's already 4 Texas teams even with the Longhorns leaving. If they're looking to expand their deal even more, they're looking to add markets and SMU doesn't do that for them

Texas and Oklahoma are off to the SEC in 2024, and USC and UCLA are set to go to the Big Ten. So what’s next for college expansion?

The big question will be, can the PAC get a tv contract with those additions to match or surpass Big12. If that happens they stay intact, if they can’t,then you can see schools eyeing Big12.

Thats the news to watch

We may be able to look competitive  against Bama's 3rd and 4th stringers. Hell ask any of them if they want to transfer before the game.

the 3rd and 4th string would kill usf

The Big 12 looking West for expansion would be a bad thing for USF. If anything our lifeline might be that at some point they would want a  travel partner for UCF. THE USF-UCF rivalry would be a good thing for the Big 12.

So... USF to the B12 or ACC?

"The Big 12 is insane for not grabbing USF to go along with the acquisition of UCF."

The SEC is nuts for not ponying up some of its cash to pay off whatever is needed for Clemson and/or Florida State to get out of their ACC deal.

That goes triple for North Carolina. That’s the one. That’s the dream of a whale everyone would love to land.

And then there’s the ACC. It had better find a way to put a ring on it and end this friends with benefits thing with Notre Dame as soon as possible, because once the lawyers and money men from other conferences figure out a way to pry the league’s members from the Grant of Rights deal …"
