BCS Level/P5 have been/are the measuring stick.

We had that level, lost it and others are taking it.  That equals getting passed up.

Stating they have more donor $ just explains part of WHY they got a call up to the big leagues; it doesn't change the fact they are getting the promotion over USF who got sent to AAA(C).

And even more in 2009 we were ahead of UCF, SMU, Houston, San Diego State since we were in a major conference. If its true that SMU is leaving that would leave the AAC even more watered down. While winning needs to come first, Kelly's number one priority has to be getting us out of the AAC.

So you are saying fans were excited to see USF play against SMU, Cincy, Houston, Rutgers, Syracuse, PItt?

Like I will continue to say. We are at the point now that P5 doesn’t matter as much. What matters is being in one of the top 6 conferences each season moving forward starting in 2024 season

Absolutely, especially compared to Rice, North Texas, FAU, Charlotte. The numbers don't lie when you compare attendance from Taggert and Strong's days in the (AAC), compared to when we were in the Big East. Numbers are likely to go down even more even if we win because the best teams have left the conference

I can't even tell if you are serious anymore, but yes those are all higher caliber programs than what is left .... and they have all (SMU allegedly being) been called to the "show"

I'm not sure how you can equate having the opportunity to be the tallest midget each season as the same as actually being in the big leagues.  It's a nice copy of the home game at best

UCF Cincy and Houston stand to have roughly 30 million more reasons for thinking the P5 does matter.

I'm astounded this is still an argument somehow....if you don't think the money disparity will create a huge gap leaving us in the dust then you're simply ignoring reality.

Everything costs more today than at any point in the past.  And any previous success USF had while in trailers or with previous coaches is irrelevant when college football has changed DRAMATICALLY since 1997.

USF isn't going to attract/retain quality players when we play in front of 5000 fans against Rice or whoever else is in this conference now.  And how many commits will be jazzed about playing for the streaming ESPN 3 masses when you can go to Orlando, Gainesville or Tally and play on national television and get exposure.  Hey want to get drafted?  Good luck showing the NFL your tape against UAB when others are playing against ranked teams. 

God the list goes on and on...."P5 doesn't matter" is about the most unrealistic take right now.  It's never mattered more. 

And in a few years when the P5 decide to stop letting G5 into the playoffs, because their good players get injured during blowouts against G5 (or they simply want to keep more money), you won't even have the illusion of the playoffs as a G5.
