We're above Rice and Tulane at least.

It will be cool to see how much higher USF will climb on this chart in the coming years. The best is yet to come. 🤘

If college football threatened the NFL the NFL could allow players straight out of high school to be drafted and setup a minor league feeder system for kids not ready for the NFL. They could also schedule games running against college games on tv. It’d be tough to compete.

That is a massive cost and who would watch that over CFB? Nobody would have any rooting interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars minor league team.

CFB really has an advantage and I imagine that is what private equity can see with the super league crap.

That's never going to happen. College football and NFL will always be separate. I think most college fans appreciate the differences and wont let that happen.

I guess the point is that the best players will follow the NFL’s direction. So I can see the NFL basically getting their ways here. P2 will not be able to stop it imo. For example, remember when the Big Ten & PAC 12 thought they were going to control when games would start up again during the pandemic. They thought the other conferences would follow suit & basically not even play the whole season. As soon as the rest of college football started playing then eventually both big 10 & pac 12 couldn’t hold out forever lol.  That should tell us all everything we need to know  imo

Sorry about that. Sometimes I glance over comments quickly and I saw minor league, and than made a false assumption. Sometimes I misread things and this is one case of that.

This data also includes the 3 years under Jeff Scott.

And we’re right at the heels of GaTech, Pitt, and Rutgers.

Football is just a small factor in DC points. They are a measure of overall athletic success. (schools that play more sports, score more points, which is why Stanford for example does so well)

The story here: Of all the AAUs not in the P4, that play FBS football, USF is tops!

USF should have picked up some decent winter points from track and field. D1 winter sports points have not been published yet, although DII/DIII have. Maybe D1 releases after the NCAAT finishes?

Major issue kids out of high school won't be ready for the NFL.  Soke young adults would get hurt by the speed, size, speed, and strength by NFL players. The 18 to 20 year old kids really need a few years bulking up and getting coached up before trying to playmin the NFL.  I know there are exceptions,  but overall most kids out of high school would get embarrassed by NFL players.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
