No, was in Chicago area when I was really young but moved downstate when I was 8.  It is called the rust belt for a reason, but I am sure it is prime for a comeback.

80's alternative was the best music.

I'm with you on that.  Some best times was bouncing between the Castle, Tracks, and another straight Alternative bar down 7th avenue that I just cant think of tne name of right now.  Those were basically it for the night life but so much fun..  Played all those mid-late 80's alternative music......Usually started off getting a buzz at the Hub in downtown.

I was partial to 70s progressive rock, myself.  Yes, King Crimson, Genesis (Peter Gabriel-era)... fabulous!

Age is no big deal man.  Just the cycle of life.  Its all about how you treat your body and your mind set.

Depends on when you grew up I suppose.  70's music in general was a childhood love.  Late 80's and early 90's (especially alternative ) was a "going out to the Club" love.  Even grew to love the early hip hop "Snoop Dogg" era and rock of that age like Metallica and Green Day, etc., of the Mid-90's.

Still partial to late 60's Woodstock era music as well, even though I was a Tot.

You guys are so young. Remember my parents music and my older brother was a trumpet player so listened to big band, jazz and Sinatra kind of stuff as a kid. But then progressed to Doors and the like, Motown and funk. Strange mix. We have tix for Usher (wife's gift for putting up with me) in Vegas this Xmas. Used to have season tix for symphony in NJ.

Oh, for sure.  When it's not the Dead, it is prog rock.  Just listened  to Foxtrot yesterday.  My wife turned me on to prog in '74.

Lamb is the first Genesis song I listened to and it blew me away.  The musicianship... that bass line!  I think it's Chris Squire's Rickenbacker bass and Rick Wakeman's keyboards for Yes for which I haven't heard anything better (ELP is close).

It would be fun to start an OT thread for everyone post links to their favorite songs.  I'd really love to listen to other people's ideas of great music and gain an appreciation of it.  I'm sure that there are groups/genres that I haven't been exposed to that will expand my horizons.

Don't kid me.  You are sooooo old you probably listened to the Stones.  I mean real stones, really early rock music, as in Paleolithic rocks.  (Come to think of it Mick and Keith Richard were probably playing back then.

Anyhow, since ol' fashioned Vegas Christmas is my bride's and my thing, maybe we'll see you out there if the world reopens.  For Christmas 2019 we saw a great Chris Isaak Christmas show at the Wynn before running across the street to catch Ray Romano and David Spade at the Mirage.   Fun but we're pretty sure I was an early adopter of COVID as I ended up with pneumonia for two months.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
