My interest in the subject has as much to do with the defense appearing better with the departure of the defensive coach as it does with the defense appearing to have progressed more than the offense under an offensive coach. It’s just an interesting result that would be outside of what I think would be the expected one.

So do I again need to point out that 3 OL guys were out?

I agree. I had a similar thought. Why go for an Air show when you don't need to and don't want to give ND any game tape to study. We have a short window where everything about our program is under wraps. Might as well relish it.

I don't think an air show or laying out all of our cards would be necessary but certainly working on a few things in a warm up game could have provided some benefit for a group that has been struggling

Is there reason to believe that they are pass blocking specialists and the replacements specialize in run blocking exclusively?

Truth be told I am just trying to find a logic behind it and hopefully one that gives hope to a better future. We will know for sure this weekend though.

I really hope everyone is right and we see some improvements this week but this is eerily similar to when people wanted KB to be successful so they pretended to see things that were not there and made up fairy tells about CCS finally finding something he wanted to be actively involved in forcing him to start Blake over McCloud, not letting him open up the offense and then ultimately failing because he had to start McCloud and did not have Blake available.

Some of us suffer from battered spouse syndrom. The Bulls keep kicking us but we think "He really does love me," lol

I'm sure it will get better, I just have my doubts about it being this week but hopefully I am wrong. This may not be our year for ND but we have to beat FAU by any means necessary and that probably needs to include some improvement in our passing game.

The passing game. We knew that if Ford isn’t benched he can run fast, I don’t think that really took improved coaching to actualize especially against an FCS opponent. We barely had more passing yards agains an FCS opponent than that FCS opponent that has built their system around not passing had against us, I would have liked to have seen a little more as would anyone that is actually being honest about what they saw.

Just my opinion here, but could it be that we didn't want to show much from our passing game just yet?

One thing that I would say is an improvement was getting our speed out into space, which wasn't the case last season.

What is your quantified definition of improvement this week? I would like to know your benchmarks so you don’t come back after the game whining about CJS sucking after the #7 team in the nation blows our doors off...then finishing with your usual statement about 07.
