Before retiring numbers, we should be adding CJL and LRS to the 'ring of honor' or whatever.

If they are going to retire numbers they need to do it in this order:

1. Selvie - first All American

2. Flowers - all time Total Offense leader

3. Grothe - second all time Total Offense, and the face of the greatest era of USF football

4. Mack - all time Rushing Offense leader

Id also like to add:

Marquel Blackwell

Anthony Henry

Nate Allen

Mike Jenkins

Kawika Mitchell

We still don’t have a stadium to do a ring of honor or put a jersey on a wall, also we have never even played for a conference championship.  My vote is do something first and then LRS and CJL are the first two up on our OCS if that ever happens.

I was at the game he got his 3,000 hit, a home run of all things and he kissed the plate.  I was in the cigar bar and they locked the doors and gave us Champagne and a commemorative cigar.  I kept the cigar for about 5 years and then got drunk and smoked it, it was straight A$$, however a nice memory and glad the local guy got it at home near his childhood home.

That would be pretty cool to be there, especially for such a young franchise

One of the rare games at the Trop that was crowded, Saturday night game and he needed 3 hits going into the game, really good time.

College football has 105 active players on a team. We already have to do number substitutions in game. I clearly remember us getting a penalty for a number infraction, two people with the same number on the field in the same play. Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot here.

You’re joking right?

No, but that was also a tribute to a Hall of Fame Hometown boy that helped get the team off the ground

I think there were a number of reasons that doesn't make it look quite as bad as it does in a vacuum ....

 - First native son to play for the Devil Rays

 - First home run in DR history

 - Collected his 3000th hit in DR uniform

 - Small homage to his total MLB career

Yeah I knew about two of them but not the others. Sounds primarily like good PR for the team.

I guess I should have read on before responding, but yes it was more about overall accomplishments and being from the area and going into the HOF
