Standard southern bs charm with Ted Talk like talking points.  I am from Missouri but I do like the AD and this hire.  Of course I liked the CCS hire so who knows.

Ahhh an Arkansas toucher..... Arkie here

sorry but he was an awful hire.

he didn't have a winning season in 3 years at Texas, the wealthiest college program in the country.

I bet it was the player's fault they were not prepared and strong enough to compete.

It is all about mindset. It was clear to those at USF that Strong and his entire staff thought they were moving on after their first year. When that didn’t happen, that set them on the path to failure.

Interesting take.  I could see that being true.

Yeah, they just didn't buy into Strong's program ...  if they had, they would have been national champs.

I can just as easily see it not being true .... another urban myth surrounding the CCS tenure. He obviously wasn't a good fit and didn't get it done. Not sure the need to concoct stories like this.

He would have been a better hire 10-15 years ago, he had already shot his load by the time he got here.  He lost that hunger, had a belief that he was above us and I believe never possessed the skill set to run a team which was very evident over the past 6 years. He can fake it if he has a super star to bail him out but without superior talent he is a flop.

I talk regularly with a former member of USF athletics administration and he has reinforced for me that neither Strong nor Taggart were the guys to get it done - and it was pretty obvious from the outset.

People get the end result and the hire confused. Skip Holtz was a very good hire. xCCS was a pretty good hire. Neither of them worked out, but it doesn't change that both were better than average on Day 1.

This isn’t something invented. It is opinion - but the opinion of a source that had a seat very close to the action.
