This has been a pretty negative year for USF Football. Therefore, I wanted to point out some of our positives. Some of you are hell bent on chitting on Brian Jean-Marie, but for the most part we are much improved. Our biggest weakness is rush defense and 3rd downs which can be fixed. We finished 2018 ranked #95 in total defense.  

USF 2019 Football Defense -  

Ranked: 

#58 in total defense 

#1 in turnovers gained 

#3 Fumbles recovered 

#2 Tackles for Loss 

#16 Interceptions 

#40 Sacks 

 Defensive Leaders -  

Tackles – Macon, Reaves, NICK ROBERTS (for Corey Lea), Studstill, and Boyles 

Tackle for loss – Dwayne Boyles, Kirk Livingstone, Patrick Macon, Greg Reeves, and Antonio Grier 

Interceptions – Nick Roberts, Sails, Reaves, Studstill, V. Davis,  

Sacks – Reaves, Grier, Boyles, Livingstone, and Macon.  

I am not saying we have a lights out defense, but feel I should acknowledge that we have IMPROVED.

They are much improved, but we still give up too many big plays.

If the D backs can turn around for the ball in-one on one coverage then we would be even better. Still, these guys have given us chance. If the offense can compliment we might get those two wins.

He is also leading in missed tackles!!!!  The kid is not a free safety and will hurt you more than he will help you. We need a true thumper at safety that can tackle. He also lazy like some others on this team. Caught out of position often and is awful in open field tackling. Our D as a whole does not wrap up and its the sole reason the run D sucks.

I agree. The DBs and DTs have disappointed me the most.

Nick Roberts clearly has wronged you in the past. Didn't hold a door open for you? Turned down an autograph maybe? Rejected your love proposal?

He continues to start for a much improved good defense and is a weapon on special teams. Ronnie Lott is not available in the portal, sorry.

Same lame defense most made for Sawtelle. He may be an outstanding young man, but struggles on the field.

It's funny how all you Sawtelle cheerleaders went all crickets!!! Lol
