USC does not have an "on campus" stadium, instead its located right across the street from the campus on city owned land. Pitt, however, has changed drastically since moving off campus, unless its a really big game the crowd is usually no more than 30,000 and not very into it (my grandfather went there, been to games many a times). Miami as we have expierenced is miles from campus, and unless they are in a big game is not a drastic environment. UCLA has trouble filling games these days and has talked about building their own stadium (it would be off campus, but they would own it).

I'm talking environment and future success. It has been said that "playing in an NFL stadium is major plus for recruits." Thats garbage, the team constantly has to move their equipment in order to occupy locker rooms. The only days they are allowed to use anything at RJS are the days we get to play there. Its not the ideal situation for a college football program to grow.

Trust me I know fiscally we cannot pay for it, and boosters aren't always the ones to pay for these upgrades, usually it comes from a combo of bowl money (we do get a share of BCS money), TV contracts (we get a share of), and fundraising.

As noted, ever since Pitt moved to Heinz Field recently to share it with the Steelers, many of their Alumni still wish they were back on-campus with Pitt Stadium.

Here's some old photos and info of Pitt Stadium (believe they took out the track for a few seasons before they moved to Heinz).

Here's the question: would you accept - just to have it on campus - the absolute cheapest OCS possible, just to get out of RayJ. No amenities...just a bare-bones stadium to "call your own"? Think before you answer!  Consider what it is you really want... 8)

Wooly, sadly, it IS what he wants. Made it quite quite clear he doesn't care about amenities, alum, or anything besides having the drunk students able to roll out of bed and stumble over to a stadium. It's all part of the "game day" experience that will make ours a better football program.

UCF hasnt done it yet and they havent done it without going broke yet. Heck they are betting the farm paying the staff what they are paying them now they are going to come up with more money for a stadium? More power to them. But they have already put that program on the brink of financial disaster in the past by highiring a high paid coach and banking on attendance.

They are banking on like 40K in attendance in their new stadium but they barely drew 20k for their last game.

There is a reason we have passed them by. Smart decision making.

I hate to inject facts into this yawner but UCF's financial projections are based upon a 10 year average attendance of 25,900.  For 07-08, the projection 23,666.

That's not banking on "like 40K" in attendance.

Why not study the feasibility studies then make informed comments?

Would that be "paying attendance" of 25K per game? Becuase with students if you have 25k paying your gonna have 10-15k in students showing up for free. Hence the 40k figure in attendance.

Just to make this issue more murky, Michigan makes $5,000,000 plus per home game per Dan Sileo this morn.  That's ticket sales alone.  No concessions or parking.

100,000  x  $50 = $5,000,000

That's not profit, that is just ticket sales.

Wow that is interesting reading. In addition to the students UCF on average GIVES AWAY 10,000 tickets per game. See Section 5 page 7 of that 70 page document.

Students pay athletic fees.  Hence not free.

Is that really shocking?  If you're not selling out your stadium, why wouldn't you do this?

While it's not "revenue," giving away tickets in promotions and co-op ads help promote the program while Big Bobby's Donut Shop pays for the actual ad.  For example, Big Bobby buys air time to get people to come to his store.  Example  "Buy a dozen donuts and get a pair of UCF tickets free."

Community relations give aways, etc.  What do you lose?
