And it is entirely at their whim. Some coaches claim they never cut a player or reduce their scholarship, others make no such promises. Some might tell recruits they've never cut someone from a scholarship, but they have no qualms about running a kid off. Plenty of coaches will sit a kid down and explicitly say, "you're never going to play, you should leave..." and it keeps their promise intact since the kid made the call. Football tends to keep kids around since they have such a big roster to fill out, but baseball and basketball definitely get creative to clear space for incoming talent. They seem to want him on their boards. I mean geez, its been over a decade, maybe 15 years since they had a QB that played well or dominated. Its like they have a QB curse Edited January 15, 2020 by Gatorbull325

He was gone and everyone knew it, to be surprised or hurt by his decision now is completely naïveté. There is no loyalty to the program and vice versa and not sure there should be either. I didn't think he was coming, houston probably didn't think he was coming back but you can't do anything until he decides to enter the portal. Which he did conveniently after submitting paperwork stating he was coming back and would like to have free tuition.
