I don't want to watch a program that can't compete on a national scale

...and poor protection. That was a mess all around...certainly not just on him, but there were several occasions where he wasn't exactly on-target.

We seem to have a knack for doing this recently. The program puts in a TON of effort into promoting this game, getting word out, finally pull a decent crowd in and absolutley lay a MASSIVE egg on national TV.

It's absolutely crushing to any fan momentum, especially in this city. We look absolutely flat and have done since San Jose State 2017.

Yep, it's hard to calculate the damage done here exactly, but we had to have lost  the chance to pull in some local casual fans. There seemed to be some excitement heading into this season. Saw a segment on BayNews9 with Michael Kelly talking about how well we've done with fund raising, and the efforts to build our brand. We wanted to believe we could compete with the Big Boys, but we came out of this looking like UAB or some similar school.

I would still take an AAC Championship over this one night of misery but we can’t beat Tulsa right now so...

Oh yeah.  Just think, we could win an AAC championship and then turn on Telemundo on December 21st to see us play in the WhoGivesAShit Bowl.  Far more prestigious/memorable than beating a top 25 team from an actual power conference in front of a national TV audience.

Better than the alternative...,

Well, @NewEnglandBull, after blowing the chance for a true program lifting win, "a conference title" will now be the coach speak for the rest of the schedule.  We gotta get that conference championship...losing to Ga. Tech and BYU will mean nothing.  There is nothing left other than to hope you can compete in the AAC.

There's nowhere to go but up.

We may compete for the AAC with Ford back and playing against worse teams.

Put a fork in this team cause they are done.  , they are poorly coached and we got no shot against the good teams in our G5 conference. There is a reason BB is on his third team, Atterbury is awful and the O line stinks like we feared they would.

Not a Blake apologist, but having half your early passes dropped couldn't have helped.  And having no run game...

agreed.  he can't catch his own passes because the receivers have ice hands.  i didn't see half of our receivers on the field.  Where were our receivers?? Eddie McDoom-  hmmm thought he was awful.  Walk on Miller- just bad

Meanwhile there are teams in this conference who are knocking off big boy programs this weekend

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

    Michael Kelly
