Can Vinnik fund us an OCS? We can named it after him. He is a billionaire and turned the Lightning back to greatness.

I am sure he has been hit up for cash at least once

Serious question, has a billionaire ever funded a stadium without the "help" of the tax payer?

Yeah, maybe it was more rhetorical than serious.

Don’t kid yourself though...it helps to have management backing to win and play for championships. I suspect if the Lightning were playing like the Panthers people may have a different perspective on transferring the management of their team to a completely different environment like college sports.

The Lightning are NOT playing like the Panthers because of Vinnik's management.

Right now that is the case. But will that be true in five years? I suspect yes but the nhl is not a dynasty league.

only ones I can think of who might have are Jerry Jones and perhaps Paul Allen

Also T.Boon Pickens at Oklahoma State...but that might have been just an upgrade (but it was a substantial upgrade).

"No!" ?-- wasn't expecting such a terse reply.

Didn’t see the need for more than Yes or No.

I guess my simple questions offended you.

LOL

What years did you go to USF?

Never was a USF student.

You know things were not always as they currently are set up.

I’m well aware of that.

The Corral did not exist when I went to those volleyball games.

When was it built?

The Rec Center was just finished when I finished my graduate work 1992.

Was that the old Rec Center, or the new one next door?

One of my first memories of USF was in that very same gym- where we signed up for classes - in 1985 (the lines were exhausting).

Where was it located?

The part of the Sun Dome that was used -- I never even knew that existed but we played on it in the late 1980s. We used to have intramural hoops in the old gym (I assume that still exists - building directly across from the Social Sciences building).

The Bill Young ROTC building is directly across from SOC...the old Rec Center is south of that.  Women’s BB played in the old Rec in 2011, while the Sun Dome was being remodeled.

Back to the SunDome-- Who knew they could retract those huge sections?

I did...when you walked into the arena for basketball games it was quite obvious.  I also saw them folding them up immediately after basketball games to get ready for other uses.  They also converted the mid level sections behind the east basket into the Cabana, with couches and tables before they did the remodel .

Made sense when I think about how they shook like HS bleachers going up them for basketball games in the dome. They also used this area for a career fair I went to as well. I cannot believe they completely removed it but I have not been in the YC/Sun Dome since probably 2007 (before the renovations). The last intramurals I participated in were wrestling in the Sun Dome in 1992 on the main floor-- that was kind of cool. My guess is they had to have it there due to construction of the new rec center

anyway-=-- fun memories of all the old haunting grounds of old USF
