Ok...just my opinion on what my eyes were showing me. Maybe he was hurt...I dont know. His production went WAY DOWN during the second half of the season. So in my opinion, at the end of the season, he was the third best back.

For me it was the ability to bounce some of those HB dives to the outside. Cronk seemed to rely on his power to get thru to the second level. When the opposing LB's improved and plugged the hole he had nowhere to go.

I get the argument he was trying to make, though I don't see how you can attempt to put Bell into the conversation after 7 carries against UCF. Cronkrite's production definitely took a nosedive the back half of the year. In his last 5 games (all losses) he ran for 73, 13, 36, 86, and 30 yards picking up 3.7 YPC. And if you take out the UMass game (yes, it's cherry-picking stats), Ford out produced him for 90% of the season.

Games Not Umass:

Ford 737 yards and 7.1 YPC

Cronkrite 793 yards and 5.3 YPC

Bell has looked good in limited action and it says a lot that coaches put him back in immediately after being injured most of the season.  Cronk is good but his vision wasn't great as the defenses got better.  Maybe too confident in the O line or scheme.  IDK.  We need to get away from predictable to really judge him.

I like Cronkrite and Ford and I can see making the case for either of them to be 1/2 or 2/1, but Bell isn't even in the mix.

I'm not saying he won't, I'm just saying he hasn't done anything in games this season to make that a slam dunk. But there's plenty of football between now and next year to make it happen.
