My prediction is 4-8 with Strong (even with a new OC). Not sure what it’d be with a new coach, can’t really even venture a guess.

If we get the offensive coordinator who can take advantage of our speed you can reverse those numbers. If we hire someone who is terrible it could be worse than 4-8.

Understood. I just have no confidence that Strong would hire an OC that is anything but conservative. In fact, I suspect even Gilbert isn’t as conservative a play caller as reputed... the HC pulls all the strings, sometimes behind the scenes.

And that’s a fair point you make. I think he is coming back as long as he agrees to offensive changes though.

I hope you’re right. I don’t care who the coach is. Just want the team to win, like we all do. We’ll see.

If that’s the case then we should see those coaches being held back flee to the first job available that lets them do their job...I don’t feel that’s the case though

This is what scares me the most and it is very possible...Gilbert ran in the past some offense at a smaller school and they were putting up over 40 a game or something really high...so very possible Strong is the one that is keeping Gilbert throttled down.

Edit..from USF site

During the 2012-13 seasons, Gilbert served as the offensive coordinator at Eastern Illinois, where in his second year he was named 2013 FootballScoop FCS Coordinator of the Year. The Panthers led the nation in total offense (589.5 ypg) and scoring (48.2 ppg), while ranking second with 372.4 passing yards, and 20th with 217.1 rushing yards per game, leading to a 12-2 record and an Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

He was with Dino Babers and was OC only in name as Babers was calling the plays. Babers has turned Cuse into a respectable program Gilbert has turned a promising offense into an albatross for this team.

We go 12 and 0!

Oh, wait, I can never remember; do the wins go first or losses?

Wisconsin running yardage might open a rift in our dimension and suck up the remaining fans at ray jay.
