When your dad took you to the Orange Bowl by bus, wasn’t it because the U was drawing crowds, which made it difficult to park?

Never once had a lack of parking issue going to a Canes game at the Orange Bowl from 1982-1996. So...no?

Did you park at the OB, or park and ride?

So, mass transit wasn’t a factor in getting you to go to games.

What were the most important factors that got you to buy tickets and drive to the Canes games?

As a family of Chicago transplants with no college affiliation, the Canes were my adopted football team. TV wasn’t what it is today. Going to see a game live was still a big deal and they were my local team. So, the major factors appear to have been:

1) Wanting to watch Canes football.

2) Convincing someone’s parent to take us.

And then eventually...

3) Obtaining a driver’s license.

Btw this is the reason why mass transit was so important to the orange bowl even when the canes drew attendance on par with us. There was close to no stadium parking, it was all super close houses selling super close spots, so for many people living in other parts of Miami the metro rail or a bus was more appealing than crowded inconsistent parking. It didn’t matter if it was FSU in town or the annual pig bowl parking was an issue at the orange bowl.

And you were driven/drove, parked near/at the OB, and went to the games, despite...

1.  The availability  of mass transit.

2.   The lack of an OCS.

3.   No affiliation to UM.

Mass transit, and an OCS aren’t going to solve USFs low attendance problem.

Yes he did but 60k people would never have fit, 25k felt snug and mass transit was a necessity for many people.
