Man, I know u r trolling but, I need to bust this Levitt bubble.  CLJ did a great job "starting" USF and getting the team to the national stage, but lets be real. When USF was in Conference USA, we didnt win that conference. We got to the Big East and averaged 8 wins a season. Had one or  two 9 win seasons.  Never even came close to a BCS game. We had a #2 ranking and beat a few ranked teams and that seems to make everybody overlook some average numbers. We had plenty of years in a BCS conference to have recruited on the BCS level and we still handed Holtz an average team. Holtz just managed to recruit even worse. We had a good 5 to 7 years in a BCS conference. (too lazy to reasearch the actual years) So CJL had all the advantages than the other coaches and did nothing with them. USF was ranked what?....3 or 4 times during our BCS days? Back then we stay ranked for a week or 2. Now we are sustaining our rankings for the entire season. We have had two back to back 10 win seasons and I am highly confident we will get a 3rd 10 win season in 2018. USF is accomplishing more now w/o the luxury of being a part of a BCS conference. I am baffled about these glory years I keep hearing about b/c when i first started watching USF I remember a lot of let downs and underacheiving. We had the BCS membership removed from us. It would have happened whether Levitt stayed or not. USF has survived the downgrade and is doing what they can to not only survive, but start kicking ass. Many fans need to let go of the past.  Im prepared 4 the "thumbs downs" so knock yourself out guys ☺

Maybe instead of being lazy you should actually look it up and learn something. The first four years we were 1-AA independent, then two years as 1-A independent, 2 years in conference USA and then five years in the Big East. CJL was constantly punching up always playing at a higher level with lower level recruits which will happen when you have your program on a meteoric rise never before seen in college football. It’s really unfathomable to  you how he couldn’t win conference USA the whole two years we were in it while starting players we picked up while a 1-AA independent?

Haven't won an AAC championship (been there longer than C-USA) - but, it looks like we're better in a worse conference...

Beat average conference foes of less talent than those that remained P5 from Big East to B12, ACC, B10

We're in a prettier seat of course, as long as we are ranked in preseason and beat the AAC, we're going to be ranked.  Totally different dynamic when you're the G5 tall midget than an up and comer at the big boys table.

Instead of continuing the comparison and risk denigrating the current state of the program as well as your understanding of what it means to go from no team to a BCS conference in 8 years, this is one area that the wise will probably stay out of.

You said what you had to say... and more.

The point made was that USF football is not dying. We're just in a place we should have been all along and some just can't seem to handle it.

That was the point you took from his post? My takeaway was the glory days weren’t actually very good so that means where we have fallen isn’t that bad (actually we haven’t really moved much at all).

5 years in the big east, a BCS conference and still getting "lower level" recruits? To be honest, how did USF even get "voted" into the Big East w/o any previous success? Arent you the one who thinks we should of not voted UCF into the AAC? lol Somebody gave us a chance, yet you want to block another team from joining.

It would have been the first two years with upper clasman recruits from the Big East, so thing would have just begun to be on an even footing for the conference. Yes that’s how life works you look out for number one.

Ok, before this runs off in multiple diffusive areas, let's remember the last time USF beat a non-conference ranked opponent - it was 2011,  with that average team Leavitt handed Holtz.  Upset Notre Dame at Notre Dame.  Since then, 0 wins.  Granted, when AAC teams sneak into the rankings we can beat them, they're at our level.

This is why games against programs like Florida are so important.  They mean so much more and provide a greater measuring stick into a program's actual level of play.  I look forward to it.

Auburn never played us at home.  Nor, did Alabama, Oklahoma, South Carolina or Arkansas to name a few.  Kansas did and got beat.  A 2 for 1 with the Gators, if they hold up to their end of the deal, is ok by me.

There's another thread for this, while you are redirecting, keep in mind the Big East had no presence in Florida.

You are the same person who thought we should of voted to keep a well qualified UCF out of the AAC, yet USF got voted in a BCS conferece with players who werent good enough to dominate C-USA. He still had 5 years in a BCS conference. Most coaches only get 3 years.

So we added to their footprint without stepping on any current members toes?? Novel

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
