He can’t be all that shocked...we’ve had the same issue for most of our history.

Glad we are being talked about.

We are being talked about in a negative manner!  The writer is not saying he's leaving due to success.  He is saying that he is leaving due to the lack of fan base at USF.

We've never had a team like this, with the preseason hype, before, now 5-0, top 20 ..... and having to try and figure out ways to get people to the stadium. We've had attendance issues before but nothing like this..........

It's so ******* annoying that we're one of like 3 programs that people can cite `actual attendance` on.

Even the best fan base aint keeping a coach against money or conference.  Author is a dip ****.  50000 in stands wont change those facts or these coach carosel articles from appearing.

I'm not concerned that the article speaks to us possibly losing our coach.  This type of talk is going to happen every year.  I am embarrassed that the article talks about coach being disgusted by our low attendance for a 5-0 #16 team.

Were you embarrassed three weeks ago after the Stony Brook game when Charlie Strong first brought it up after getting defensive about the teams overall performance? Let's start another attendance thread please.

Attendance (or lack there of) is a huge issue for him maybe even more than it was for Taggart.  His coaching career has taken him mainly though P5 programs so playing in a near empty rented stadium with 16k in attendance when your team is nationally ranked, scoring nearly 50 points a game and on a 10 game win streak must disappoint the hell out of him.

It would not shock me at all to see him gone after this year.  There will be programs that will take a serious look at him and if he gets an offer he likes, he's gone.

The attendance issue needs to improve and quickly and I don't see that happening.

No, it's not happening soon. Tampa's a tough town for sports attendance though--surely he didn't think he'd come here after similar numbers from last year's successful season and have all that change instantaneously.

People were just starting to get on CWT's bus, and then the let-down. It's CCS's first year at a young football school with nowhere near the boosters and fan base of a UF or UT, it's gonna take some time coach...we've been through some tough years but I do agree it's time for fans to come out of the woodwork.

But now every player we're recruiting is going to be told that he's going to Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc. Bottom line, no excuses - people need to freaking show up at RJS or STFU when things aren't going great.

People love to blame the university, but at the end of day attendance is simply a matter of people making the decision to take a short drive to the stadium and support their alma mater or stay home and make excuses/blame others.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
