in 2008 we started out 3-0 and made it to #12.  We got to #10 after going 5-0.  But this year, wins against our first five opponents will not get us that high.  That, and our conference, will require us to be winless after at least 8 games in my opinion before getting #10.

Look, I have my green and gold goggles on too, but, I don't think we'll be moving up the rankings under is we start 0-8.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

There's such a large gap between us and Miami, their votes wouldn't have moved us up unless those 7 gave us an average ranking of 2.5

If we start out 0-8 no way we sniff the top 10.

(Just noticed someone else giving you grief over your typo. I retract the grief I gave you in the sentence above.)

Of the 7 clowns that didn't rank us most of them were all over the place and had some extreme variations from the vast majority of pollsters. One of them had Notre Dame ranked #3 in the nation.

While I would like to see a blowout in the first game, I expect that CCS will keep it pretty much vanilla and let our backup QB's and newer players gain some valuable experience. It's a long season and there is no sense keeping Flowers in for most of the game.

Long term, USF needs to cement itself as a perennial top 25 team over the next several years and become THE powerhouse in the AAC, much like what Miami did in the Big East. That is our best chance to be picked up by one of the P5 conferences.

I would rather hw do that in the Stony Brook game. I want him to come out hard

Why?  There's no reason to.  Why put anything on film about this new offense that our conference mates can plan for, in the games that matter most?
