After the first game, I think people will be more pumped than ever. But every team tries their best to win and rankings never get on the field. It's a long season. Wear your seat belt and let's see where this ride takes us!

I can't believe that with the loss of Mack & Adams, and a new system in place, that we will be quite as good as we were last year, although I do expect that we'll be pretty good offensively. We are just one year removed from our worst ever defense, so hopefully we can field at least an average unit on that side of the ball. The polls will not be very forgiving to us with even a single loss. With that being said, this still feels like our best shot at finally winning the conference, so really looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds. Next year should be interesting too, with a new QB, and new starting RB. I cant't help but wonder how much the loss of QF, DJ, & MVS...likely our top producers this year...would affect us in the preseason polling next year if we do manage an undefeated 2017. Seems any G5 team would need to start the season somewhere around 8-12 to have any chance whatsoever to crash the party. Dropped passes, missed assignments, confusion in any unit, could all draw the line for where the team is at. Of course improvement happens, and frankly the big dogs don't come knocking at the door until October so they have time to figure it out; there's just a ton of expectation for a first time coach. As for the defense, don't forget we had a YOUNGER team and core when Tom Allen made that a top 40 unit; the reason the defense was bad was because of Raymond Woodie. BJM and CS will put most of those same players in the right position. I understand you have to pay attention to trends but sheesh.

I have no idea what he was thinking. I attended the kickoff with coach T event at pier 22 last year and asked him about our defense and how aggressive we will be with coach Allen leaving. His response was basically that most players and playmakers are back on defense, so our defense would be good regardless of the coach. After the season ended, I'm not so sure that plan worked out.
