Hell no!  Jose Fernandez.

Can Jose just coach BOTH teams and we pay him triple?

Quick for those who are baseketball historians, has a coach from any D1 WBB program ever left to coach a men's D1 program? I assume not.

I know UW is really down this year and all but seriously we should grab Lorenzo Romar once he is let go at the end of the year. He is going to be the best coach available on the open market this year IMO and has serious recruiting ties to one of the most fertile basketball areas in the country.

Washington is currently 9-16 overall, 2-11 in the Pac-12 and 11th in the league standings. The Huskies, losers of seven straight, are tanking their way toward their first losing season under Romar since 2007-08. But his program has been sinking for some time.

That last Sweet 16 appearance was eight seasons ago. Barring an unlikely Pac-12 tournament title, Romar is going to miss the NCAA tournament for the sixth consecutive season. If you are one of three people who care about the National Invitation Tournament, he's missed that twice in the last four seasons. Here's his conference record since 2012-13: 32-40.

Good coaches have an occasional bad season. They don't have multi-year slumps more than 15 years into their career.

Twist Romar's stellar recruiting into a counter argument if you want, but the fact that his teams have repeatedly under-performed with such highly-touted players should make him that much more of a non-starter

Even with all this he still would bring some talent to the program which quickly raises you in the top half of the weak conferenece

Two other names to throw out there

Kevin Keatts, UNC Wilmington head coach

Why Keatts? He has been wildly successful at Wilmington. He took over a team that won just eight games the year before he arrived and won 18 in his first season (he was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year), then won 25 last season — including the CAA Tournament title and the accompanying automatic NCAA Tournament berth. This year, the Seahawks are 22-5 and could make a case as an at-large team should they stumble in the CAA tourney. Keatts also was a big part of Rick Pitino’s staff when the Louisville won the 2013 NCAA championship. He’ll be a star at a bigger school, probably sooner than later.

King Rice, Monmouth head coach

Why Rice? Rice has been a hot name on the coaching carousel for a couple years now, for good reason. Monmouth hadn’t won more than 12 games in the five years before Rice took over for the 2011-12 season, his first as a Division I head coach. After a couple seasons to establish itself, Monmouth won 28 games last year and is 22-5 this season; the Hawks are 31-5 in Metro Atlantic play the past two seasons. Like Keatts, Rice will be a coaching star at a bigger school at some point, probably sooner than later. What makes Rice intriguing is his connection to the Tar Heel State, specifically, the Tar Heels basketball program. Rice was the point guard for UNC from 1987-91 under legendary coach Dean Smith. Rice is still sixth on the school’s all-time assist list with 629. Would State hire a Tar Heel? Would a Tar Heel coach at State?

Assume that was a c&p, from an article about the NCSU vacancy, so it should have a link.

Neither has any glaring faults. Keatts would have only been a hc for 3 seasons but he came and immediately turned things around. Rice's 6th year with only an NIT appearance thus far so don't really know how attractive he'd be to programs like NCSU so he would probably be available .... unless he gets into the NCAA's and makes a deep run.

Wouldn't be surprised if MH didn't look to the same place he got the new MSoccer coach.

Let's go reverse psychology on this hire.

What do the new coach and his staff need to do to succeed? And how long would it take (how long do we give them)?

(Succeed for USF bball, as defined by me, is to get us back into the NCAA Tourney, even if as a play-in team. The NIT ain't success!)

And the coach already on the USF payroll just keeps rolling ....

...

The Patriots will play in Lakeland on Tuesday night at 8 against Bradenton Christian. It is the first time they have played in a state semifinal, and it doesn't look like it will be the last.

All five starters are freshmen ...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
