No conference championship no invite to NY Bowl. The highest-ranked champion from the "Group of Five" conferences (The American, C-USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, and Sun Belt) is guaranteed a berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff.[38][39]

Not highest ranked, necessarily, but highest ranked conference champion. Two requirements must be met.

Our margin of error was small and a 7-1 conference record wouldn't have gotten it done. Actually, Army is not a bad team this season. They have Notre Dame in San Antonio next week. They could very well win that game as well as their game against Air Force this week. Coach Monken is a **** good coach - good enough to take his team to Baltimore this year and upset Navy. Push comes to shove, we didn't take care of business when we needed to take care of business. It doesn't diminish the turn around over the past season and a half. Let's just finish this season strong and win out. The last three games aren't automatic W's... which I'm glad. It makes watching the games more enjoyable vice playing FCS schools that no one cares about.

The FSU game was the statement game to the local populace that we were relevant and we got steamrolled. Temple was the conference championship game and we got destroyed. It's the timing and the caliber of the losses that put the pallor on the 11-2 hypothetical season. Beat Temple and lose to Navy and our 10-2 regular season is an order of magnitude better because we're in conference championship game.

Whether its this year, next, or in 10 years. Hopefully we keep this winning mentality going.

Temple has the easiest possible conference schedule. Our defense doesn't deserve a conference championship though.
