Mahalak will be a redshirt sophomore for the Tigers after never taking a snap at Oregon. The fifth-ranked dual-threat quarterback of the 2014 class redshirted his freshman year before serving as the scout team quarterback this past season.

Mahalak came to Towson after spending the previous two years at Oregon.  He was rated the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback after going 160-for-260 for 2,795 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior at Marin Catholic High School.  He also rushed for 575 yards and seven touchdowns.
