I'm seeing this line pop up more and more on this message board. Has anyone from the coaching staff openly stated that the DR is the answer to our problems? From a strictly factual standpoint, we only have one player hailing from the Dominican Republic on our roster for this upcoming season--Andres Feliz:

If anything, I see COA recruiting FL and internationally, which I think is a good thing for us right now. Considering we don't have the basketball tradition to lock down our best local players, we need to rely on JuCo's, transfers, international players, and hidden local gems. I'm really interested to see what local standout Troy Baxter brings to the table. In summary, neither the facts nor coaching staff statements support your theory that the DR is considered the answer to our basketball problems, by anyone other than some posters on a message board.

The only people saying it are the ones who really want to believe COA said it.

That's the other part of his post that has me scratching my head.

I think he used the DR/foreign players heavy initially because of familiarity and the need to try and plug some holes quickly. Feliz is the only one in 2016 class .....

Heavy use of foreign players players, specifically from the DR?

2014: 2 (1 from the DR)

2015: 3 (1 from the DR)

2016: 2 (1 from the DR)

Luis Santos is Dominican.

Argument seems valid.

Personally, I think COA is toast with his heavy use of kids from Minnesota.

Yeah disregard that. I was just a little hot headed and was rambling. I just think we should be better in general, and I'll leave it at that.

I was just going by how it seemed in previous years. Should have fact checked before hand. I know way more about USF football than I do basketball so I should probably just stick to that lol.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
