My memory is a bit foggy on this pre-coffee Monday, but I think a key to the game was the lack of holding penalties on our part. I think we may have been called for less than a handful of holding penalties.

I think 3 holds and a chop block.  Which is still way too many. However, unlike prior games we didn't just give up the series and punt. We actually scored on 3 of those drives. Amazing how much better you look when 2d and 17 isn't an automatic punting sequence.

I have seen Flowers in interviews and he is a serious, humble and likeable so I am really rooting for him.  I think he is getting better and gaining confidence.

The screens to the sidelines worked on Saturday, in part, on him throwing a little bit in front of the receiver so he is moving up field when he catches it (instead of flat-footed).  I think that is something that the coaches saw and worked on.

They are no longer timid out there on offense and it is something I have seen building over the past couple of games.

I've posted this in other threads, but what also helped the screen was we put the TE in motion to help the blocking.

Much better scheming by CWT and company, hopefully the TEs were also in motion on some of our run plays or UCONN will probably sniff this play out every time...

Dillon might be our best tackler on the team! ;)

Dillon had at least 2 holding calls.  That has to stop, as they are killers.  He's a big kid...drive people, don't grab them.

It's funny, as that was my comment before the game, to a bud sitting with me.  The screens don't work well when the passes take too long to get there AND we have a small WR make the first block.  The WR just needs enough of a block to pick a lane & run thru arm tackles.  McCants run was beautiful, and was a TD if not for the turf monster that grabbed him near the 10-15.

Believe it or not I think the chop block was on Syracuse. I know they committed one,  just not sure we had one too.

I thought the same thing but wasn't positive with this memory ...

I think there was a chop block both ways. Dillon got flagged for a hold and a chop block.
