Predict how high USF will go in the polls this season

For what its worth... USF is tied for 23rd best odds in Vegas with Oregon for winning the National Championship. Just the fact that we're even considered that high considering our schedule gives some hope that we could be ranked high.

It really is hard to say. There are so many variables to consider. For instance, if we are 9-0 going into the Houston game and they are 8-1 or 9-0 as well (that would mean wins over Arizona, Texas Tech, and Memphis) it could be a battle of two top 10 teams (if both teams are undefeated). Win that one, and all of a sudden the top 4 isn't a stretch.

Another scenario that could give USF a chance to reach as high as the Top 5, Houston at 8-0 plays Memphis who is 7-0. If Memphis were to win that game, the rest of their schedule would be favorable to win out and finish the season 12-0. A 12-0 USF versus a 12-0 Memphis in the AAC Championship game would present the winner with a strong case to be ranked in the Top 7 and possibly the Top 5. 

The best case scenario for USF this season is for the AAC to be unbalanced, with 3 or 4 teams with gaudy records and the rest struggling. The more Top 25 victories we can claim, the better. Beating a 3-9 UCONN team holds the same weight as beating a 5-7 UCONN team, but beating a 10-2 Houston and a 12-0 Memphis is far more impressive than beating a 9-3 Houston or a 10-2 Memphis. 

On a side note, I really think Houston is being overlooked this year. They lost a few games that they shouldn't have last season, but still beat Oklahoma and Louisville OOC. Kyle Allen, the QB transfer from Texas A&M, showed some real promise in his freshman and sophomore years playing in the vaunted SEC West. He was the #1 QB in the 2013 class with a 5 Star, .9950 rating from 247 Sports.

We will either end the season number 5 (undefeated) or unranked (1 loss). We lose 1 game and we are unranked for the rest of the year. Polls will be looking for a reason to exclude us.

Start off 6-0 with convincing wins we will be rank 8-12. Then we probably stall there due to our weak schedule while SEC teams battle it out.

I think with 1 loss we stay in the top 25 if Flowers and the offense are still putting up big numbers. We had 2 losses last year and finished ranked.

Unless that 1 loss is to SJSU or SB, we're not going unranked the whole year ...
