I hope this is a good coaching hire for us and not just a good old boys club hire. Time will tell I suppose. I liked the comment above about not having to worry about him jetting anytime soon. Last two hires at this position were better, and so thought two other schools.

One of these is not like the others. (Hint: It's Allen) Universally, on paper, awful hires aside from Allen.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the defense will be better, and I'm thinking that with co-offensive coordinators and Taggart continuing to call the plays, the offense will continue being offensive (in the bad sense). Taggart knows he'll be gone after this year, so he's getting a few friends paid and titled so they can go elsewhere with "experience" on their résumés. Its nice that he's looking out for people he knows yet gives us insight to his real expectations and bodes poorly for any hopes for the year, IMHO. Call it the way most coaches fill out a good portion of their staffs .... with people they're familiar with. Look no further than our current men's hoops coach for a perfect example. Then why didn't he give one of his buds the Defensive Coordinator job? That "experience" would certainly look good on a resume if that was his intent in filling out his staff .... Bottom line, there's no insight to his "real" expectations being given with these hires, IMHO.
