Impressive list. Hope he tears it up wherever he ends up.

In the mix for Angel Nunez from Gonzaga, also used to play for Louisville.

Coming from those 2 programs you have to think he has some talent, anyone know more about him or this?

Angel Nunez Rivals:

He could be a temp replacement for Montero who will be coming for 2016.

We definitely need the depth for SF.

See his HS stats here:

14 pts 8 rbs per game in high school.

Why do they make you pay to see his film?  Some guys they show and others they don't.

Antigua is methodical.  He has a system and he recruits players specific to that system.  It's so much different than what Stan did.   These long rangy players who can run and shoot.  He loves athleticism.  I think we could have a decent team next season.  We will be a lot more competitive with Peters at the guard.  I saw him and I'm not sure he's just 6'3.  I'm 6'1 and he towered over me, I though he was at least 6'4.  Has long arms and big hands.  Watched him shoot around and my jaw dropped.  He is money.  Has a pretty shot and he has handles.  I can't wait to see him in an actual game.  He looked the same height as Troy.

I'm excited about next basketball season.  I'd personally like to see Nunez added.  He's better than what we lost in Clayton...

I've thought the same thing, I'm a legit 6'3 barefoot and he was no doubt taller than me.

I presume that Nunez will sign with USF, since he's another Dominican from NYC.

On behalf of New Yoricans and our ilk, that was harsh. (Yes humor included)

Secondly, it appears to me that unless someone else decides to transfer, that would leave us with just one Schollie for the next recruiting class if we lock up all of our current commits including Montero at some point later. Unless of course someone else leaves.

Actually, he was originally from Mass, but moved to NYC later on and played for the Gaucho's. CoachOA has been recruiting him for a long time..

Angel Nunez Planning to Join Madness List

By Dustin Rumbaugh on ©October 02nd, 2009 @ 1:55pmPosted in Blue Blooded Opinions | 56 Responses

In the continuing story of every high school prospect in the nation coming to Lexington in a couple weeks, 2011 forward and one of the nation’s top prospects, Angel Nunez is planning a trip to Big Blue Madness, according to this report by Adam Zagoria. Although things are completely set in stone yet, Nunez would be joining a list of visitors that is nearing the double digit mark including CJ Leslie, Tobias Harris, Kyrie Irving, Michael Gilchrist, and the list goes on.

Nunez is originally from Massachusetts but played on the summer circuit with the NY Gauchos, Rod Strickland’s former AAU organization. Nunez and his mentor Eric Martinez’s Dominican heritage give them common ground with UK assistant Orlando Antigua. He is ranked as the #13 small forward on Scout.com and #11 at that position on Rivals. Nunez has yet to receive an offer from Kentucky, but does hold offers from the likes of Louisville, Arizona, UConn and Indiana.

With all the excitement surrounding Big Blue Madness this year, which Nike Basketball has even picked up on, the game is looking to be one of the most hyped Madness’ in UK’s history and has probably already surpassed the amount of star power in the form of key recruits that will be attending. In more ways than one, this year’s Madness will go down as one of the most important in UK’s long and storied basketball history.

Transfers dont have to go by those dates, though, correct?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
