The lack of support for this winning team and quality product is puzzling.

Go get em ladies.

Bulls up 7 w/6 minutes to play in half one.

As puzzling as it is frustrating; I know it's women's basketball, but it's the most consistently winning team on campus; with 3K students on campus, there is no excuse to see less than 50 students in the student section. This team has a legitimate shot at a tourney run, and it's the same 750 people and a few local high school teams in attendance every game.

Athletics and SG should get together for the UCF game, and market the hell out of it; free pizza, prizes, make it an event. It worked for the WNIT Semi-Final

Are there really on a couple hundred fans at the game? Hard to believe. Watching these ladies is really exciting, can't believe more don't attend.

Today's attendance was 1,400 and change, so I was exaggerating how small the attendance was; but it's still 1,000 people away from the average attendance of the 50th most-attended women's basketball team last year:

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/w_basketball_RB/reports/Attend/14att.pdf

Schools like James Madison and Old Dominion regularly pull in >2,500 people.

And we can't blame athletics; IMHO they've done a great job of treating this team like the men's, with the pre-game introductions and HOT Rumble band and promotions, but there's a missing piece that needs to be found.

True, there were 1400 in attendance, but few students. I don't include the band as part of the student section, so 50 in that section, today, is stretching it. Even if it was 50, that's bad.

The missing piece may be bad weather. Today was an abdolutely gorgeous day. I have a feeling you could have had stacks of pizzas waiting in student section, with advanced notice, and the numbers would have been the same. Our weather is the blessing and the bane of USF.

Current RPI is #15, which is the peak for the season.

The remainder of the AAC regular schedule is dominated by poor wbb teams, so we should expect our RPI to get progressively worse down the stretch, despite winning.

Too bad, we don't get to play FSU or Miami who are both quality teams, to bolster our final SOS/RPI. In the future, we should try to add a couple of good OOC games, like that, later in the year, in order to offset the relatively weak AAC schedule in Women's Basketball.

Does timing really matter for RPI? Are late games treated more importantly than early games?

Certainly that may be true for human perception, but I can't think of too many OOC games played after January. Might be tough to schedule.

Right now if they just keep winning they should be dancing.

But they gotta keep the UConn game around 15. Easier said than done.

If you find that piece let the Rays and Bucs know as well as passing it along to our AD.  The Lightning seem to be the only exception to the attendance woes of Tampa Bay sports teams.  This has been discussed over and over and there just seems to be a myriad of reasons.  As to the lack of attendance by students, I just don't get that one.  It is your school and WBB is fielding a quality, fun to watch team.  Maybe if it was on youtube or whatever kids use now.  I would say that just 6-7 years ago I wasn't a fan of WBB. But went to a game here and there and have learned to appreciate the game and enjoy it as much as men's now.  Since they don't play above the rim they actually need to run set plays.  And they do it well much of the time.

The weak conference was the reason we were sitting at home last season, and it's the reason our non-conference this year was stacked with impossible teams, but also decent teams that were also winnable. Getting out of the nonconference schedule with only 3 losses (and it could have easily been 1, Maryland was the only game where we just got crushed) was the best thing that could have happened.

We finish the season 23-7 or 22-8 and make a semi-final run in the AAC, and we are squarely in.

This game was like the reverse of the UConn game.

Ferreira, Jenkins, and Williams were the best players on the court.

Canedo needs to be stronger with the ball, but I like how she runs the team.

Our last non conference game was Dec 21.

Uconn had a game on that date as well, and also played on Dec 29 and jan 4. they still have a game Feb 9 against South Carolina.

No doubt UConn wants to be a #1 seed and needs to bolster their RPI, in order to do that. At the moment, their RPI is #6. They lost an early game @Stanford.

Seeding is important to us as well, to give us the best chance pssible at the dance.

Perhaps, there is a mamimum number of non conference games a team can play. I notice that UConn will still have the same overall number (12) of them as USF.

I think that a game against FSU or Miami in February would give a big boost to attendance, down the stretch.

As far as maximum ooc games it has more to do with total number of regular season games allowed. Amount of conference games dictates the amount that can be played ooc.

UConn just set their dates differently.
