In the new AP poll, USF went from #37 to #31. Two teams we have beaten (who have worse RPIs) are ranked: #24 Oklahoma (RPI #22) and #25 (RPI #33) Chattanooga.

You can use that same link to view the Coaches poll when it is released. They had us #28 last week, so there is a good chance that we will once again be ranked by them.

Couple things. First, our RPI will be fine down the stretch, assuming we keep winning. We have at least 1 more game against UConn, and probably will see them again in the conference tournament.

All those teams in our league will have their RPI's go up as they play us and UConn. The question that remains is our league a 2 or 3 bid league, either way we should be second team in and fine.

Last year the conference was strong, with UConn, and Louisville both coming off a Final 4. It was the lack of quality non conference wins that kept us just out of the dance last year. We noticed and scheduled much tougher out of conference, which is why our RPI is so high right now.

Current RPI is #15, which is the peak for the season.

The remainder of the AAC regular schedule is dominated by poor wbb teams, so we should expect our RPI to get progressively worse down the stretch, despite winning.

Too bad, we don't get to play FSU or Miami who are both quality teams, to bolster our final SOS/RPI. In the future, we should try to add a couple of good OOC games, like that, later in the year, in order to offset the relatively weak AAC schedule in Women's Basketball.

Does timing really matter for RPI? Are late games treated more importantly than early games?

Certainly that may be true for human perception, but I can't think of too many OOC games played after January. Might be tough to schedule.

Our last non conference game was Dec 21.

Uconn had a game on that date as well, and also played on Dec 29 and jan 4. they still have a game Feb 9 against South Carolina.

No doubt UConn wants to be a #1 seed and needs to bolster their RPI, in order to do that. At the moment, their RPI is #6. They lost an early game @Stanford.

Seeding is important to us as well, to give us the best chance pssible at the dance.

Perhaps, there is a mamimum number of non conference games a team can play. I notice that UConn will still have the same overall number (12) of them as USF.

I think that a game against FSU or Miami in February would give a big boost to attendance, down the stretch.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't saying we shouldn't schedule OOC games in February, just ruminating it might be difficult to find partners since all the good teams are in the thick of the conference schedule and likely wouldn't want to schedule us.

Our win over the Chattanooga Lady Mocs is really helping our RPI. They have won 14 games in a row including victories over #4 Tennesee and #7 Stanford (yes they beat UConn). The only losses the Mocs have are against USF, #3 Notre Dame, and Arkansas.

The fact that Chattanooga isn't even receiving votes shows just how clueless the coaches, or who they have voting for them, are ...

Don't know if anyone else realized this, but the ladies SHOULD win every remaining game until UCONN which will result in a team best 11 game winning streak and a final season record of 25-5...we'll be ranked in all polls next time we play UCONN as long as we win all these games we should win.

The only game I see us struggling with is going on the road to play ECU. They are a dirty physical team that fouled us 26 times when they played us back in December.

UCONN beat them last night by 50, about the same they beat us by.

ECU is the last good team we face this season, and we should be lightly favored.

Hope the ladies are able to hold serve in the overdog position until UCONN. We'll be seeded 1 and 2 in the conference tourney, so it wold be very very nice to win both, or at lest split the games with the Huskies.

If we manage to beat all the teams we're better than, and snatch just ONE of three from UConn, we'll either be regular season co-champs or tourney champs. Either way brings us some hardware and a ticket to the dance.
