We are hiring a HS coach. Man......

That worked out well when Houston hired Art Briles as their head coach out of HS. Many were laughing at Houston for doing that but it obviously paid dividends to both Houston and now Baylor. USF also hired a HS coach years ago under Leavitt as the OC but that didnt work out as well. So it is all we shall see.

Todd Dodge was arguably the best HS coach in the nation with back-to-back-back national championships and went to UNT. Crashed and burned. Went back to coaching HS.

Yea, but I can name THREE head coaches that made the jump and did well.

Did you say 3? Here I was thinking hiring a coach out of high school and handing him the keys to D1 offense was going to be a longshot. Let's do this!

I'd rather a successful high school coach than a special assistant off an NFL bench.

sure there is risk involved but I'd rather promote someone that has had success at a lower level

ask Ole Miss if they mind that their HC started in high school or Auburn. Chad morris who was Clemson's OC was a former high school coach.

now  I wouldn't want them as a HC right away but as a coordinator, no problem.
