The only thing that would surprise me is if Breezy isn't coming back.

the defense was pitiful this year. I miss the days of Wally where they played aggressive, attacking style football. not sit on your heels and let them take it to us.

If we had any semblance of offense, we would have won several more games this year. Defense is the least of our worries right now. They kept us in a few games that we lost.

it's not the least of our worries. it's always easier building a defense.

they have regressed tremndously this year and believe it or not our offense was worse last year so using that as an excuse doesn't cut it.

we went from #12 total defense last year to #78. UCF has the #1 total defense in the country and the #114 offense.

I understand what you're saying but don't get caught up in rankings or anything.

UCF'S d is ranked that high because they play these offensive juggernauts:

Tulsa

Tulane

Temple

SMU

Bethune Cookman

Our crappy offense

UConn - who put 38 on them...would the #1 defense in the country give up 38 to those clowns?

That's 7 games against some pitiful offenses.

it's not like we played a murders row. that same tulsa hung 30 on us with 488 yards of total offense. I'm not arguing where they should rank only that you can be successful with a crappy offense. they are #114 offense and still have a shot at conference title.

They also totally took us out of more than a few games.

True.  When your offense goes 3 and out every possession, it's tough for a defense to keep making the game manageable.

tell that to UCFs #1 defense. Their offense is 5 spots higher than ours.

UCF was on their knees (familiar ground for them) BEGGING us to win that game the other day.  Yeah, we gave up a bunch of 3rd down conversions, but we still held them to 16 points.  We missed way more opportunities on offense.

You could have come up with a better example of defensive failure than UCF.  That was the last one you should have brought up.

and that had nothing to do with their #1 defense......

my point was their offense was just as bad as ours this year, difference is they had the #1 total defense in the country. that's why they had what would be considered a successful season.

we ranked #103 in 3rd down conversion % against.

It was painful watching our defense give up so many 3rd and longs this year. they loved to play soft coverage and rush 3.

Mike White missing countless throws, Bench overthrowing a wide open Swanson and Price had absolutely nothing to do with their defense.

My whole point in saying I'd be surprised if Breezy was fired was that the more glaringly deficient side of the ball is offense.  Can we at least agree on that?  Plus, it looked like Wulff and Taggart were at odds all season long.

I agree with Trip's point above, let them all stay for 2015 and fire them all if it doesn't work out.  Would be bad to see major shakeup, will be very tough to get any decent coordinators for a potential lame duck coach.

I'm hoping the "source" is wrong ... what decent assistant would want to come here with a potentially lame duck coach? Let them all have 2015 and if the results aren't satisfactory to the decision makers, clean house completely.

One out of work. One who is from the area and wants to be close to family. Climate. Beaches. Or thinks they can turn it around. Or thinks they can take over.

I agree. keep them all on.

their defense has proven in more than just our game that they are the reason UCF is 8-3

our defense let them convert 11-18 on third downs and 1-1 on 4th down. both scoring drives had multiple 3rd and long conversions. to me going from #12 to #78 is far more concerning than going from #124 to #119. believe it or noit our offense actually progressed while our defense regressed a lot.

I know. I just cringe when I see things like "ucf #1" in anything.

Let me play devils advocate here:

Coaching changes could also mean that some assistant coaches are looking for new jobs, not wanting to re-sign, as they see the writing on the wall that their HC is on his way out...

our defense allowed western carolina to score 31 on us. they had 378 yards passing and almost 500 total yards of offense.

UCF averaged 30 more rushing yards per game and 10 more points per game.  Not even close to the same situation.

UCF is #4 in yards per game defensively, but their offense is significantly better than ours. They have around 300 more yards this season in 1 less game and average more than 10 more points per game offensively. With that said they are pretty poor offensively ranked only 74th in scoring offense. We are 119th with is abysmal.

if we lose Lockette and Woodie, we are effed in recruiting

And if we lose ANYONE, Taggart better get back on the horn with Larry Scott and get him back over here...
