I dont remember anyone getting fired last year. I think people were moved around for WULFF.

TAMPA, JAN. 3, 2014 – University of South Florida Football coach Willie Taggart today announced that offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Walt Wells and quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Nick Sheridan will not return for the 2014 season.

“I would like to thank Walt and Nick for their hard work and dedication to the USF football program,†Taggart said. “I appreciate their professionalism and service to USF and wish them the best in their future endeavors.â€

Both Wells and Sheridan completed their first season on the USF coaching staff in 2013 and had previously worked on Taggart’s staff at Western Kentucky.

Taggart will begin an immediate search to fill the two coaching staff positions and will not comment on the status of that search until the positions have been filled.

The Bulls return 16 starters (9 offense, 5 defenseicon1.pngand 2 specialists) for Taggart’s second season at the helm.

Taggart needs to stop talking **** about how we're not some huge brand.

Thanks Willie, between you and your predecessor, you've destroyed whatever brand we did have.

No, Holtz destroyed it.  Taggart (thus far) has failed to resurrect it.

It's gotten worse under Taggart. Look at dwindling attendance as a cue. The longer we "fail to resurrect it" the more the problem compounds. We're arguably behind brand new D1 programs like Georgia Southern at the moment.

Taggart has been tasked with raising the Titanic and he will eventually get fired for not being able to.

Sure, we'll go with that...

Listened to some of the coaches show last night. You can tell Taggart fully believes the way out of this is to recruit. He mentioned nothing about philosophy or trying to do things different. He believes he needs better players. While I believe we need to upgrade the talent level, I also think the coaches need to self scout themselves and see if they need to change and do things different with regards to scheme, etc, I heard none of that. It was all about recruiting and competing. He is one stubborn SOB.

Muschamp was the same way. He brought in 3 different OCs and nothing changed because he was the problem. It cost him his job and will ultimately cost Willie his. We unfortunately have to sit by and watch the carnage unfold until we can afford to fire this clown.

Anyone fired up for the 2015 season?

He won't say it, he'll lose face and look like he doesn't know how to coach. We'll just have to see what he does.

He is right though.

Everyone and their mother can see that under Holtz year 3 and into this year, no one on the field wanted to punch anyone in the mouth. Every was getting outrun, out-muscled, etc. It's sad.

Maybe Taggart does have a thing or two to learn about game logistics and management, but there is no doubt that he sees a bad need for upgrading the talent and culture on this team.

It is great he sees the need for better players, but his problem is this isn't the NFL. He can't just go out and trade for better players. Unless he is putting together a team full of JUCO players for next year, his incoming class of recruits won't be in a position to make an impact until 2017 at the earliest.

The big question is what is Taggart's game plan for 2015?

Oh please, stop with the ridiculous analogies and comparisons concerning coaching young men to success.  When he gets fired it will because he's a loser, plain and simple.  When you can't win games against inferior competition, your teams won't fight for you on the gridiron to allow to stay, and you have effectively reduced your fan support by half during that time, you deserve to be run out of town on a rail. If Taggart turns things 180 degrees, he'll be able to stay but I don't see it happening because he's made it a caustic environment in the locker room and his team won't fight to win enough games so he can stay.  His recruiting will take a big hit this offseason as well, meaning the pant load of hope he was trying to sell has expired and is beginning to turn rancid.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
