Guest
But..... the slower the pace + the less plays you have on offense in a game = the more opportunities you have to score right? This offense is not predicated around "opportunities to score." It's designed to be methodical, control the ball, control the time of possession, and prevent the hurry-up opponents from running 100 plays on our defense. The offense is not executing the offense correctly. However, on timing, for the first few games, we were actually quite a bit faster... because the OC was calling all of the plays. After NC State, CWT decided he needed to get more involved. When you watch the game live, you can tell when CWT is changing the play... because White/Bench spend more time looking at the signals - and we start running out of time on the play clock. Delays of game are 100% to blame on CWT butting in on the OC's playcalling. (OC calls quickly, meaning we line up with 20+ seconds left... CWT does not, and we line up with 10 seconds or less remaining -- add up those 15 or seconds over a drive and you can see why we've slowed down so much)

Of course that assumes that we would perform the same with a faster pace. Might perform better. Might perform worse (no seriously). If we're going to go 3 and out, yes I am in favor of it being faster than slower. We'd get the ball back with less time wasted. More possessions for us equals more possessions for the other team too. Given our defensive performance to date that seems like a bad idea.

An extra possession or two for the other team achieved by us going 3 and out faster would be disastrous.

It may be just as much about not being able to develop a qb as not having one.

This is the first time I've heard Bench was kicked off the team. Edited November 7, 2014 by JTrue

I don't see us improving any further this year.
