Even with him in the QB will still have to be able to make throws.  I don't think he can.  He puts a lot of air under his passes, even that screen last game was more of a toss than a throw.

SMU will not be a good barometer of where he is at.   I think Mike White and Bench could have a great game against SMU because running game will be wide open.  If you look in our wins the main difference is getting Mack over 100 yards. The O line has sucked except for the three wins.

We should play nothing but a combination of wildcat and option formations for the rest of the year...

Hopefully, our receivers don't drop great passes either.

Too early to start Flowers, "just because". If he's ready, sure. But, wait until after we get our 7th loss to experiment.

YES, Start Flowers......

It is not like we are setting the world on fire with the 2 we have been playing.

I was at Matt Grothe's first game as a freshman.

I was at Marquell Blackwell's first game as a Freshman.

I was at B.J. Daniels' first game at FSU as a freshman.

Two were brought in after other QBs failed.

BJD was brought in after MG was injured.

And the rest is history.

Things in common: All three were freshman, mobile and raw. All three turned out pretty well.

Give the kid a chance...

JMHO,

Ty

Good Points.

However, this scheme doesn't really take advantage of a QB whose legs are a big part of his game the way it benefited Matt and BJ. Plus adding in the "complexity" of the offense, shifting, etc. I think there would be a lot of painful delay of game, illegal motion penalties, etc. but I'd stlil like to know what he can do.

Grothe wasn't a true freshman, he was a redshirt freshman.

Grothe had a handle on the offense, which wasn't nearly as complex as this offense.

Grothe did not have a cannon for an arm, but he could throw an accurate pass.

Grothe officially went in because of a injury to Julmiste.  Unofficially the staff knew he was the better QB and was just easing him in.  He would have played in game one and would likely have taken over early in the season even if Julmiste had not been injured in the first game.

We can say none of these things about Flowers.

One difference between the three former QBs and Flowers is that each of the other three had the chance to Redshirt, absorb a system and understand the game.  Flowers is a true freshman.

BJ was also a redshirt freshman for his first start...

And officially MG went in for PJ because of an injury in the first half but I believe he was scheduled to play the 2nd half anyway ... and if Flowers does start, that'll make him only the 2nd true freshman to start a game at qb, correct?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
