I feel better that COA is putting together a team where AC doesn't have to sacrifice his body to make things happen.

What team?

It is AC, Allen, Perry, and a bunch of guys who have not done a thing in Div 1 basketball.

C'mon man.

Great to hear that he is healthy! AC will be the key to this team.

So 3 of 5 starters are returning. Of the rest, some have experience either at the JC level (Cousins/Morillo/David) or Div 1 (Peters), and whatever remains have solid potential out of HS. That's about as viable a team as any Div 1 team that hits the courts. Maybe not all 5-star seniors, but this is a pretty decent construction with only 3 players to build on.

What team? OUR team!

The thrill of the unknown has me really anticipating the season ... but what sucks is that the first two reg season games are the same weekend I'll be in Dallas for SMU.

Ironic - I had to unload my SMU FB tix because I'm now leaving TX for a new job at "home" in FL (Orlando), so was thinking I'd probably go to one of those opening games now!

Boy I wish big John stayed.

He didn't come here because of the school, he came because of coaches. Egbunu had no attachment to the institution, so he booked it to Gainesville. I would have loved it if he stayed, but it's likely for the best that he wound up in UF, as much as it pains me to admit.

Assuming you left out the "for him" somewhere in that ...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
