usf is rarely in the mix

so i kind of buy the preseason rankings as it applies to usf

it will all come down to qb play

if white plays like a starter we may have a respectable year

if he stinks and bench or flowers cant save the day we will stink again

They are a worse team than they were last year, so that would make sense. But gloating over Sagarin's computer putting them at 45 and declaring it worldwide proof of last year's team being overrated seems a but much.

last year's orlando team was great

usf never had a season like that

Last years FSU team was great. Only the NC game was in doubt and they still won it.

Last years UCF team wasn't great, just good enough. They had to pull a rabbit out of their hat a few times to make it through unscathed.

Preseason rankings are garbage.  No poll should be released until mid October at the earliest.

UCF lost their 2 best players on offense, one of which was their QB taken number 3 overall in the NFL draft. I have no problem with them falling that far because it makes sense. What I find funny though is how teams like Texas A&M don't have the same thing happen to them when they lose their 2 best players that carried their team. Or Georgia. Or Clemson. Or how bout how The Gators lose to an FCS team in the 2nd to last week of the season and get to be ranked 23rd.

What the rankings also tell me is that the AAC is WIDE open. The number one team in the conference is Cincy at 38 with a 77 rating and we are at 81 with a 66.5 rating. Once you get to about #35 it just becomes a guessing game. The Bulls could finish anywhere from 45 to 120. Cincy could be anywhere from 20 to 70. FSU is going to be 1 to 6. It's much easier to figure out just how good the good teams will be.

Look at Texas A&M and Georgia and Clemson's recruiting classes then look at UCFs and you will find the answer you are looking for.

The one that matters isn't released until October. The AP and Coaches poll, along with 500 other computer models are fun. Relax.

For once smazza is correct.  LY UCF was outstanding.  The fact that they had to pull "a rabbit out of a hat" a few times proves it.  It's OK to give credit where credit is due.  This isn't Salem in the 1690s.  You're not a heretic.  They were very good and fun to watch.

Go Bulls!

Disagree, but please go ahead and continue to ignore the truly great teams like FSU, who would have crushed UCF like the bug they were if they had played each other.

I stand by my comment that they were "good enough."

I would never say anyone outside of maybe the top 3 is outstanding. UCF was good last year and, on any given day, could have beaten most anyone ranked below them. They took care of business when it mattered. They hung in there against the number 4 team, they beat number 15. Whatever. It's an opinion. They might have been a few spots +/- but to say they shouldn't have been ranked last year is ********.

We sound like idiots. Can we just shut up about UCF? If that was us we'd be elated.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
