If this passes this is good for the little schools. Right now, the little schools don't have anything additional to offer that 4star who is going to sit on the bench @ Alabama, assuming this vote passes it gives the little schools an opportunity to pony up and get that 4 star who would otherwise have gone to Alabama. Sure the starting 11 will still be the best at the big schools but the level of depth will be reduced at the big schools and the little schools will see their starting 11 increase in quality. If you like parity then you want this vote to pass, if you don't and you want to see the rich getting richer then the status quo should remain. If this passes, what would stop the P5 schools to raising the # of schollies or lowering academic standards to let nonqualifiers in. Unless kids truly want to stay closer to home or go to a particular school for a reason, the P5 schools will have the ability to drain as much talent as they want. Yeah, they P5 will get autonomy most likely. But you know what also is likely to happen? A structure for independents. And I think some schools will move down because they don't want to provide all that the P5 wants to offer to student athletes, much like the Ivies did when Division 1 expanded benefits to their players. That will create room for schools who are committed to big time athletics in the power conferences. I would not be shocked if we saw new independents in the P5 framework, much like Miami did back in the day. If USF continues to pursue the "anytime, anyplace, anywhere" mantra that they have done in precious years, what's not to say that they might be one of those schools? College football isn't really going forward, and we can be in agreement on that. What we can be certain of, is that certain elements of the past will surely reemerge. If USF was a P5 (and UCF wasn't)... we would be all for this. However, being on the outside looking in, this IS a bad deal. Unless the AAC can convince recruits that their programs are good alternative options; the division between the programs will grow (even within the P5). It will be an interesting case study to see how this plays out though.
