I knew we'd see McCray this year, his HS tape was great and we saved him a year to bulk and learn the playbook. 5'11 215lbs should be a nice power back.

Unless he gets bumped by Johnson or Mack, but without knowing their blocking assignments and the playbook it will be hard for them unless their running game is THAT elite.

Tice/McCray as the lead backs is encouraging. I still fear Leavitt and his almost blind "give the senior back the most carries". Pierre seemed ineffective last year.

 

I'm surprised White/Bench aren't co-starters at this stage.

 

Dunkley is supposed to be our savior but is benched behind super inconsistent Welch. Not encouraging.

 

I love that Whitehurst is back in a prominent role. Do we know what happened last year? Redshirt year?

 

Robbins not starting is a surprise.

 

Granted, all of this can/will change and may simply serve as motivation.

Only surprise on there is seeing Eatmon at Guard rather than tackle. Maybe not a surprise just not expected.

Guy I am most interested in seeing play is Swanson. It will be interesting to see what 206 or 215 pound running back can do with a 253lb load as an escort. If the OL gets any kind of consistent push I think it will be fun to see this offense run the way it is supposed be run. Grind it out 3 or 4 yards at a time then dump it off to the TE or a back on a screen or play action.

Let's hope it all comes together.
