If last season showed anything, it's this: turnovers cost us games.

We can make a bowl if we hold on to the ball and play smart.

Defensively, we weren't too shabby, and I expect the same or better this season. And we have a great kicker, one of the best ever at USF.

So, it comes down to the offense. The offense either helps or hurts. Stop the turnovers and we go bowling!

PENALTIES!!! That Houston game literally became OURs to lose... because of PENTALTIES.

Ugh.  That OPI call against Davis may've cost us that game.  Total BS call, especially in light of the DPI against us later in the game.

That was a winnable game, for sure.  UCF, too.

Wins and losses is not a stat. It's called a record.

Carry on ...

Going with penalties as the biggest thing we need to work on moving forward.

I dunno....maybe I should have phrased it as "improvement on the 25% in conference winning percentage (or the 16.7% overall winning percentage)" :FIREdevil:

If you like talking about records in a manner that no one gives a rat's arse about, far be it from me to stop you. ;)

Let's turn this thread into a debate about whether or not winning percentage is a statistic. Who's with me?

I'm in....I'm voting yes, win loss records are considered a statistic. Why would I say such a thing? Because I believe the definition of "statistic" is applicable: "a number that represents a piece of information (such as information about how often something is done, how common something is, etc.)"

..and in our case, I would apply 2 wins out of 12 games (16.7%) as a number representative of how "common" wins were last season.

Even with an improvement in tackling, catching balls, avoiding penalties (though I don't see any of those numbers in this thread), at the end of the season if the number in the win column is smaller in value than the number in the loss column, that's going to be the overarching concern...The Statistic Grande.

Wins.

Total number thereof.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
