I think we're going to see a much better ground game.

I expect either of these two guys to do very well:

Marlon Mack RB

Dee Johnson RB

Talked to a sports writer from Bradenton this evening. USF isn't his beat but he did run into Taggart somewhere. Coach T told him that Marlon Mack may have been the steal of all the recruits.

Top five impact players from the guys coming in:

1. Legrand Harley...   I've watched hours of tape on him and he can play (I know he's a Juco but he's new)

2. D'Ernest Johnson... (I think he's college ready and I'm not completely sold on Pierre.  I also think Mack will end up a DB when all is said and done.  Johnson seems more natural at that RB position).

3. Demetrius Hill... He looked great to me this spring.  Was a lot better run stopper than I expected)

4. Jimmy Bayes... I think this first year he'll see spot play at an hybrid position.

5. McCants/Pope... I'm caught between these two.  I think Pope will pay huge dividends in the run game and in our 3 TE sets.  But I also had a chance to chat with coach Taggart for a while and the one thing I came away from that conversation with was that he has big plans for McCants.  I'm not sure how much he'll play but that kid is talented and I think he's going to be special.

I chose my players looking at what is likely to happen.  More or less what I think is actually plausible.

Oh... this is  a cool forum... surprised it took me this long to find it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
