My 10 year old son carried a pack of $5.00 Pokeman cards out of Target (13 years ago) they called the police  and I had to pay $300.00 restitution to them.

Moving dangerously close to Mad Cow territory here, but you do raise an interesting point.

 

It's the parents' job to teach each child right and wrong. Full stop. Possibly even their MOST important job.

 

If the child fails to learn this, and still breaks a law, how much fault lies with the ineffectiveness of the parent-teacher and how much with the child-learner?
