I wonder how many of them are protesting on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/latest "social media" flavor of the month. Frigging morons. There are thousands of people who work their backsides off to get their degree, and many unsung heroes who already have jobs line up prior to graduation. They want to share that brief moment with their families, and personally for me, there was nothing more exciting than to get a quick handshake from the dignitaries on stage as well as the university president. What is disrespectful are those type-A personalities that think it is all about themselves and think that graduation is a night at the club scene in Ybor City. Those are the same types who probably have no clue as to what they are going to do after graduation.

It's surprising this is even a problem needing such a statement. Sooal media has turned today's graduates into real attention whores. I don't know about doing this at university graduations, but I've been to a fair share of HS graduations. We've gone past polite applause to the screaming, jumping up and down like you're on some game show, holding up signs....your kid (or in some cases your friend's kid) just graduated from high school (not a real difficult task in the grand scheme of things) and you're acting like they just signed some multi-million dollar sports contract or won a Grammy. The times, they sho' have changed.

My family couldn't make it down, so I tailgated in the parking lot prior to the ceremony and was feeling pretty good by the time things got rolling. I did give Judy a kiss on the cheek and I had a green wig sewn into my graduation cap. I wore some big clown glasses as well. That was just me though. I don't remember any of the speakers and found my finance degree to be pretty useless (but that's just my personal opinion). Things have turned out pretty well for me otherwise.
