If Taggart calls the plays, what purpose does the offensive coordinator play in the grand scheme of things? Does it really matter if Wulff comes in versus some other shlep?

This.

Yes because we aren't hiring an OC. We are hiring a OL Coach with an OC tag next to his name so we can pay him more. Wells was let go bc the OL sucked, not because of play calling.

This way you can afford to bump up the salary of a reputable school's OL coach or an NFL assistant and he can make more $ and put "OC" on his resume.

Also, Wulff inherited a f'n disaster at Wazzu when he took over. Players getting arrested left and right, historically low APR, players on drugs, etc.

In 4 years should he have been able fix that? Probably, but he may just not be a good head coach. I am sure this is one of Harbaugh's recommendations. Bresnahan worked out pretty well...let's see if Jimmy can go 2 for 2.

You ARE working real hard on your goal. :)

Even I avoided calling that out at least three times in last 48-72 hours.

Shame on you.

Not sure about Wulff on offense. At WSU he was 120, 120, 91 and 61.Good trend that took a while to get going, never got the defense going though. Of course he took over a team that had 12 people arrested in the 2 years proceeding his hire and a very low APR that took the school 4 years to overcome. He never did get to play with a full set of scholarships. I think at WSU his main task was to clean up the program. Apparently he replaced everybody associated with WSU football to clean up the program.
