News papers sell news papers and news content to individual people in addition to selling ad space to advertisers.

Facebook, twitter, google, they all sell people's attention. The advertisers are their only customers.

They are different business models.

My 2 cents. I don't read the local paper enough that I would pay for a subscription.

I don't even have cable TV at the moment and haven't for over a year now. It's not really that valuable to me at least. And if you sit and write down goals for your life, you may find that watching sports, being the number one fan, reading the local news, is not on that list, nor will they help you reach any of the goals you've set. Honestly fandom, thebullspen, cable TV, etc. are all distractions for most people. Why pay to be distracted?

so you don't go to games? surely that's a distraction to you in meeting your goals. you don't ever visit websites that aren't geared toward you reaching your goals? people pay plenty to be entertained. in fact that's why grown men make millions playing a kids game.

Sure entertainer can enrich life. But there comes a point where it's not worth the opportunity cost in time and/or money.

And my last year of graduate school I didn't attend any games. But throughout my entire time at USF I probably attended 4/5 of the home games and also traveled to games in Tallahassee, Orlando and Gainesville.

I don't mean to come of as some kind of entertainment buzzkill, but in reality it is of little relative value when compared to other activities towards most peoples life goals outside of relationship building.

So uh...when is it that Mr. Knight takes over the beat? Does that start Sunday? Monday?

You're all I know as far as USF reporting goes. Thanks for everything :GoBulls:  As I do not follow the Bucs, I won't be reading your material anymore. Good luck though!

Congratulations, Greg!

At least you'll be able to cover a team with a future.

Terrible post and if you think this program is dead, MOVE ON!

You must not know of Mizzou.... His only hope in life is utter and complete failure for this program

That's the most important thing here. Love Greg's reporting, don't even marginally follow the Bucs. So this weekend is the end of the line for me, but I'm sure he will continue to provide top notch coverage.

Thanks a lot Greg. It's been great. I trust that your move and TBT's change aren't related, even though they've been linked here. Best wishes.

Greg provided outstanding coverage. I checked his blog multiple times daily. With this new pay thing, guess I'll be checking the blog a lot less. Sorry I'm not paying so they just lost a few clicks.

  • Quotes

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
