Awash in debt after our BE severance runs out and the lawyers are paid

On our 5th head football coach as we are now a step stone mid major coaching job

We will be 10 years from our spotlight on ESPN 30 for 30 as the poster child for how deregulation of the NCAA in the early millenium ruined college athletics and even damaged a few schools. Why are we the poster child for early millenium shenanigans. . . . Because we went "all in" in the late 90's and lost our shirts. Our timing was a doozy.

Seriously, We're screwed.

Mark it down. This is how it's going to shape up!

1) Coach Taggart has rebuilt USF and we are in a power conference -the ACC.

2) USF just lost its head coach to an NFL team. Bulls fans are all scrambling and screaming. We have a new Athletics Director; he months into the job and quite young. Replacing Taggart is a huge task for him. Yes, we have a few bowl trophies in the case, but it doesn't matter now without a head coach.

3) Men's basketball has returned to the NCAA's two more times. But we just finished up a terrible season in the ACC. Welcome to the woodshed II.

4) Funding for an on-campus stadium is almost complete. We are one year away from the start of construction.

The Nancies will be complaining about not winning the XYZ Conference in FB the last year.

They will be predicting a 4-8 season for the next year.

They will all be clamoring for the removal of Heath and Taggart.

They will be predicting that we can't recruit like Vanderbilt.

In the Big12 with one AAC trophy in the case. I'll say Taggart has not yet left, because the news broke about additional realignment. We'll be coming off a mediocre 7 win first year in a power conference.

Basketball has gone to the NIT 3 times and one NCAA berth over the last 6 years. It's been success, but getting stale, so fans starting to question Heath.

6 years from now:

1) Conference, any changes for USF?............................................................................USF remains in the AAC.

2) What's going on with football? Any successes?......................................................... USF has one AAC Championship.

3) What about Men's basketball? Have we made it back to the Dance?..........................USF will not be in tourney in six years.

4) Any other changes?....................................................................................................Nothing worthy of note.

Come on, Wooly.  Please stop being a freaking realist for a post or two and be a dreamer.  This is depressing stuff...except for the one AAC championship.  That would be cool.

Fine...if it makes you happy...we'll do this:

6 years from now:

1) Conference, any changes for USF?............................................................................USF, having reaped the benefits of inclusion into the Big XII shortly after the 2013 season, finally completes construction of the second OCS, which will be used strictly for non-conference games. Unlike the palatial OCS that is used for conference games, this one is constructed of metal and wood bleachers only between the forty-yard lines and is standing only for the rest of the venue.

2) What's going on with football? Any successes?......................................................... USF, with five seasons of Big XII play under its belt, is now poised to represent the conference in the playoff bracket and will be playing Oregon - and looking for some redemption from the beatdown in El Paso, some years back. Demand for tickets is such that ESPN (broadcasting Game Day at the Bulls final game of the regular season) estimates that nearly 70% of the stadium will be decked out in full Bulls regalia. A consequence of the phenomenal traveling support the Bulls have developed over the past five years.

3) What about Men's basketball? Have we made it back to the Dance?..........................USF returns to the tourney for the third straight year, looking to finally get past the final four barrier that has held them back in the previous two appearances.

4) Any other changes?................................................................................................... "Dangerous Dave" Wandel will be installed as interim athletic director as "Less Dangerous Doug" Wollard retries. Rumors abound that the interim director could be hired on permanently thanks in part to his $10,000,000,000,000 donation to the Athletic Association subsequent to this multiple Power Ball wins .

How's that?

Better?

Like that better than a cold bowl of chili?

Just say the word and I'll whip you up a fantasy sammich! It's no trouble at all  ...
